AWG multiplexer is a wavelength division multiplexer with a waveguide architecture. Instead of an array of bulk diffraction gratings, it uses an array of weakly coupled parallel waveguides. An optical signal entering the AWG multiplexer along one of its input waveguides is split into multiple parts, each echoed into a different waveguide and focused onto a different output waveguide by means of nonlinear interaction in the branch coupler. Phxfiber is one of the leading arrayed waveguide grating manufacturers, our AWG multiplexers are engineered and manufactured to meet the performance requirements of your high-speed applications.
Arrayed waveguide grating manufacturers have produced array waveguide grating (AWG) which are widely used in optical fiber communication systems. They can multiplex different wavelengths into a single fiber to increase the transmission efficiency of the optical fiber network. Controversially they can also demultiplex light signals to different wavelengths at receiving end of optical fiber network. So they are often used as optical multiplexers and demultiplexers in a Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM) system to combine and separate wavelengths. There are other areas of application, such as Wavelength routers, Optical add-drop multiplexers, Multi-wavelength light sources and Multi-wavelength receiver etc.
