A fiber optic pump combiner is based on coupling technology to combine different pump lights into a single fiber to transmit, hence increasing the output power of the laser. According to construction, it can be divided into N1 fiber optic pump combiner and (N+1) fiber optic pump combiner. An N1 fiber optic combiner doesn’t have signal optical fiber, but an (N+1) combiner has it.
Fiber optic combiner can achieve different functions in laser system by using different types of fiber, such as single-mode fiber, multi-mode fiber and large mode area fiber.
Fiber optic pump combiners have multiple applications, such as in fiber laser, fiber amplifier, high power EDFA and Sensor systems.
Like other optical passive components, fiber optic combiner is also customizable, its power, configuration, fiber type, wavelength and package can be tailored according to requirements.
Fiber optic pump combiners are usually divided into 3 main types: multi-mode (Nx1), (N+1)x1 Pump and Single-mode Signal Combiners, (N+1)x1 Pump and PM Signal Combiners.
